Pokemon AU!

Welcome to the World of Pokemon!
This world is inhabited by creatures called Pokemon! For some people, Pokemon are pets. Others use them for fights. And they're fantastic creatures! Pokémon possess miraculous power, come in all shapes and sizes, live in all kinds of locales...
And we humans live together with them in peace! We're always there for each other, the both of us. But joining forces to help each other can often be a difficult task. And while it's their most popular role of all, making fellow Pokémon fight only binds them further.
So, a world of dreams and adventures awaits you in the Kanto Region!
...Now tell me, are you a boy or a girl?
[ This is the Pokemon AU! Let's keep it it in the Kanto Region, as everyone's likely more used to that. That is Pallet Town and Celadon City, etc. Or do whatever, who cares. Duplicates welcome! Oh, and feel free to change and make up locations and gyms!
To make a trainer card you can go here. (To select a blank trainer image (in Chrome) you can right click, "Inspect Element" on one of the trainer images, then right click "Edit as HTML" on the image file name, and rename it to "1.png". Then select that broken image! Done, then you can paste your own over the card in photoshop.) ]

Reimu Hakurei | Shrine Maiden Trainer
[ Growing up learning to be a Shrine Maiden, Reimu had been training pokemon just as long. Her team, including one Legendary, has made her infamous in the region. Usually she spends her days in a shrine near the mountains, which never seems to get any visitors unless she happens to be throwing a party.
Things like Badges are unimportant to her, as travelling around and training is far too much work for someone as lazy as her. Still, because of her reputation people seem to treat her as an unofficial gym, climbing up to the Shrine to challenge the Red-White Miko to a battle to prove their worth. ]

Although a short time later there is a voice and the traveler finally making up the stairs, too stubborn to fly up.]
Oye Reimu! Are ya here or has Spark and Magus snuck up on ya again?
no subject
When Spark, Marisa's Jolteon, rushes up into the shrine, the one in Reimu's lap stirs, picking her head up to see the newcomer. Like lightning, Ruukoto, Reimu's Jolteon tackles Spark, causing the two of them to roll over a few times. However, once the dust clears, the two of them are just rubbing their noses against each other, and generally acting like two lovesick pokemon just happy to see each other again.
With all the sparks flying between the lovebird Jolteons, and the Haunter likely going to play tricks on her other pokemon, Reimu finds herself waking up, as Marisa reaches the shrine. ]
I'm here, where else would I be?
no subject
Marisa will just smirk and cross her arms, glancing to the two Jolteons, The rest of her team still in their pokeballs. She'd release them once she was sure it was okay, which she knew was usualy okay except for her Seadra. She was sure Reimu didn't need a shower from the temperamental pokemon.]
Well maybe ya went ta grab somethin' I dunno. It's been a few weeks since I could get back here.
Alright you two, ya act like ya haven' seen each other in months.
[She'd been in and out of the region on her training mission...and avoiding the police force which though she was behind a string of thefts. Which she wasn't.]
Anythin' interestin' happen while I was gone?
no subject
Meanwhile, the Jolteons are playing on the other side of the walkway from where the Persian sleeps. They jump around and spark each other playfully, rolling and nipping at each other. ]
Weeks? Has it been that long already? Where did you go?
[ The Jolteons both turn to look at Marisa when they are spoken to, only to return to what they were doing before. ]
Ruukoto gets angry with me when she doesn't get to Spark. I'm blaming you for each shock I get.
[ Reimu sits up on the steps to the shrine, stretching her arms out like she just woke from a thousand years of slumber. ]
Some trainers came up here trying to challenge me. Made enough off of them to buy plenty of sake for the party later.
[ Of course, it is close to that time of year where people flock to the shrine to see the sakura blooming. Reimu never has once invited anyone there, but somehow they all know to show up.. ]

Komachi Onozuka | "Sailor"
[ Are you on a boat? This Trainer from Lavender Town had always thought they were pretty nice, and runs a little transport service over the sea routes using her Lapras on occasion.
However, she doesn't really put very much effort into raising her Pokémon, and has kind of a strangely dark sense of humor. ]
Hope tagging with Tenshi is alright
So, she had tried to take a little transport to some tournament or whatnot. Of course, she was Tenshi, so she had to make a complaint (regardless if Komachi had actually been slacking or if Tenshi was just being stupid because she was used to yachts and motorboats)]
Hey, boatkeeper. Yes, you! You!
Isn't this a bit...slow? You can go faster, can't you?
It's better than all right!
[...and yet the Lapras pulling the boat does not speed up. Curious.]
no subject
[Because, clearly, Tenshi was a model citizen herself and had every right to expect her whims to be obeyed. Clearly.
And she looked mighty pleased as well, that is until she noticed that the Lapras were not making a particular effort at improving their speed. Nor was the boatkeeper, come to think of it...]
Hey, were you even listening? You're not speeding up, this cockleshell is still moving at a glacial pace!

Nue Houjuu | The Unknown Trainer
[Nue's frequently out at night ambushing weaker looking trainers. Or simply playing mean tricks on them. Isn't it fun to whip up a sandstorm in the middle of a grassy field? Or maybe cause a cave-in to make someone's time in the Dark Tunnel even more of a living hell?
Nue focuses on her strange and monstrous pokémon to copy her opponents, confuse them, or just outright try and break them.]
Marisa Kirisame | Traveling Trainer
[Marisa knows much about trouble, growing up as a member of Team Rocket. She left the group once her adopted mother disappeared though, feeling they might have been behind it all, Taking the Eevee they gave her and her mother's Haunter with her.
After that she just started to train her pokemon and gather up a team, trying to get herself to a point where she could go and gather the badges and challenge the league at some point. Her team is part of her family though and she treats each of them well. But you'd find her wandering about, pondering if she's ready or not..or on the way to bug her friends around the land]
Hina Kagiyama | Ex-Gym Leader??
[Previously a gym leader who held the Hex Badge, Hina gave up the position a while back to travel. There are many rumors about her, and no one really knows what's true and what isn't. Some say she's secretly sadistic behind that kind smile. Others say that she's a member of Team Rocket, and one of the newer rumors say she's become a member of the Elite 4 itself.
No matter what the rumors say though, she always seems willing to help other trainers out. Well, if they're brave enough to approach her.]
Minoriko Aki | Breeder//Farmer
[Minoriko was a trainer once, but felt that Breeding pokemon to spread the joy around was more to her liking. She's fairly popular among the people, and can often be found working her farm with her faithful pokemon.
If you're lucky, you might be able to see her before she harvests her next crop of berries. The biggest crop in Kanto, and possibly the world.]
Yuyuko Saigyouji | Gym Leader
[A new gym has opened up in Lavender Town! Well, new-ish, anways. It used to be Hina's gym, but it's since been renovated and a new leader moved in.
She's still learning the ropes of being a gym leader, but Yuyuko does try her best. She holds the Phantom Badge. There's also a rumor going around that she might go easy on you if you bring her lunch or dinner.]
no subject
[That voice was from one of the trainers that helped with the Gym's functions. She helped with jsut about everything..even though she had no Ghosts on her team at all, Except for the Ghastly that always seemed to follow her...]
I should have dinner ready for everyone soon. Has there been many challengers today?
no subject
[Yes, it was a little odd for there to be a Grass type trainer in a Ghost gym, but it wasn't like there were any rules against it. Yuyuko certainly didn't mind. Youmu always seemed to do her best, and she was a pretty good cook to boot!]
Ah, not today. It's almost as if they're waiting for me to settle in.
[She really didn't mind that there had only been a few challengers so far. It gave her a little more time to relax.]
Youmu Kompaku | Gym Assistant
[The Lavender Town Gym is where you would see this trainer more often then not, Watering the plants around it or training with her Pokemon outside of it. Which is strange..as she has no Ghost types on her team.
Although if you watch her..There always seems to be a Ghastly following her around as if it was a part of her...Creepy...]
Tenshi Hinanai - Self appointed wandering pokemon trainer
[Tenshi had been born as the daughter of some super wealthy family and had, thus, enjoyed a life of prosperity.
Which had bored her to tears. She spent most of her time watching pokemon matches until, one day, she decided that, hey, she could do it too! Abusing some of her family's money, she got herself a pokemon trainer card (sure, it lacked her name, but...) and some good pokemon, and then set out to
cause troublebe a respectable trainer.Of course, she was completely clueless about the world at large, but that was fine - discovering stuff wasn't boring, after all, so that worked in her advantage!
Sure, some fellow adults considered her somewhat childish for that, but screw them! She was out to have some fun for once, who cared (well, she didn't!) if she was a little old for that!]
replies may be slow, hope you don't mind!
only her Milotic remained in its Pokeball during the search. Milotic can't fly. that'd be silly.
eventually they do manage to find Tenshi (though Iku had secretly been hoping they wouldn't and she'd have to report the heiress as ~forever missing~). there's a mighty gust of wind as Dragonite descends to the earth before Tenshi, Iku nimbly hopping off its back. her other three pokemon land more gracefully behind her.]
Eldest Daughter. [a courteous, but rather stiff nod.]
... Have you been faring well?
[she wants her old job back.]
Not at all - my timezone makes me slow myself! Nice to see you again :o
She was pretty glad that Iku had arrived now and not ten minutes earlier, when she had spied on some training facility with a pair of binoculars.]
A-ah, I didn't expect to see you, of all people!
[After this certainly not particularly polite answer, she remembered SOME of the manners she was supposed to have and shook her head]
Right, I'm fine, really doing fine. Couldn't be doing much better, really, although I wish they'd have better beds in this area. They aren't soft at all.
...What about you? Here to deliver some message of some sort?
[Tenshi had certainly not been pondering the usage of certain weather-altering pokemon to cause some minor harassment on some people, so she was clearly not feeling guilty or caught.
At all.]
nice to see you again too! and i should be back to a better tagging pace now u_u
Yes, of some sort.
[she clears her throat, calling back her Altaria and two Dragonair to their pokeballs. Dragonite sits down with a huff, scratching its belly.]
I am to be your new traveling companion, by your parents' request.
[new traveling babysitter, her tone says.]
Any objections will have to be taken up with them. Though I should warn you you'd be wasting your breath.
[yep, Iku's here to stay. the salary is good, at least.]
:)
But...but the entire point of this exercise was...
[Tenshi had taken a step backwards and now blinked, looking positively perplexed.]
I can't just talk to them, they'd just make a fuss - like they're making now! I was doing perfectly fine, I've only gotten chased out of ONE town so far!

Aya Shameimaru : news reporter!!
Bunbunmaru news channel is by far the most renowned and largest national news network, even if its credibility is somewhat questionable at most times. Aya Shameimaru is behind it all, her Shiftry and Honchkrow said to be undefeated. how? nobody knows. some question why Aya decided to turn to journalism and news reporting instead of becoming a Gym Leader or even a member of the Elite Four, but most assume it's due to the fact she only has two pokemon by her side.
wrong. she has much, much more than that. maybe you've tried to catch a Nuzleaf or Mukrow somewhere along your journey and failed, the pokemon apparently already belonging to a trainer. Aya has an enormous network of Murkrow and Nuzleaf scattered across Kanto, gathering information for her. they're much more stealthy and reliable than humans, that's for sure.
sometimes if you're lucky you'll find Miss Shameimaru herself running along a dirt path, her two signature pokemon trailing alongside her. why not challenge her to a battle? who knows, maybe you'll be the first to defeat her.
or, you might notice a Nuzleaf or Murkrow following you around. yeah.]
Sakuya Izayoi | Scarlet Gym Trainer
[ There is a hard to find Gym in the Kanto Region, located on a large misty lake that hardly anyone ever goes to. There's rumors of vampires and monsters that keep most easily scared trainers away. But those who can brave the travel through the dark woods find a antique manor that seems to hardly fit in the Kanto region at all. Getting inside is difficult, a trainer has to battle all sorts of varied opponents, like a fighting type gatekeeper, and a maid known for having a Celebi that appears to help from time to time.
Sakuya enjoys this life though. She gets to do what she does best, serve the Mistress of the mansion, using her Pokemon and the relationship she has built with the Celebi to cook and clean as if time hasn't past at all. Every once in a while she goes out into the world to shop for the manor, sometimes taking along the mansion's Gatekeeper as company.
Her pokemon are a mixed bunch, a couple dog-like pokemon, a Cinccino with a Minccino that help her clean, and a Scyther with seemingly sharper than average claws. ]
